pixels keep falling on my head
--------------------------------------

by jhenney

The fifth piece in my long neglected pixel paintings series. I've had this planned for upwards of two years...

'Raindrops keep falling on my head, that doesn't mean my eyes will soon be turning red...'

The same is not quite true of pixels. This deviation might be Ratty's fault.

Yes, I think so. ;)

Update
---------

After the amazing response to this deviation I thought I better fix a few things about it that had been bugging me after publishing it in a hurry... Sod's Law, Subsection 47 Paragraph 3: Any piece of work not finished to your highest standards will instantly be catapaulted to international recognition. Feh.

I have played with the tree roots a bit, looking for a slightly less picture book effect, and added extra layers of shading to tree trunk, fence and grass to emphasise the sunlit foreground.

Daily Deviation

Given 2004-11-10

This is as calm of a scene that one may muster using pixels. A place where you'd likely read a book alongside some cover from that tree, perhaps. (We still all know what it's like to read books, right?) pixels keep falling on my head by ~jhenney uses some tight pixel textures all around to complete the ambiance. You really are quite insane aren't you! Fortunately for us however banging your head slowly (but hard) against a wall has been substituted with this amazing talent you have for capturing scenes so perfectly in pixels. Ok, that's enough praise, don't want to make anyone sick here. There's certainly nothing to fault, however I would say the tree trunk looks as though it's on top of the grass. Some grass creeping over the roots would have bedded it in a bit. The sky is perfection, the contrast between overcast clouds and the white and fluffy variety is spot-on. As for the rainbow... if the 'jawdrop' emoticon wasn't so shit I'd use it in abundance!! My absolute favourite part though are the fields in the background. Photo realistic? I think so!!!

Wow! I had to see it to believe it, man!
:iconbakabaka:
Wow, that is absolutely amazing.

It'll never cease to amaze me how pixel artists get such high amount of detail in their images.
=3 And this is definately no exception.
I especially love the rainbow.

Congrats on the DD! I've always wondered how long pixel art takes to do. How long did this one take?

I have noticed that whenever a rainbow appears in the sky, the sky inside the rainbow is a slightly brighter colour than outside - it is true!
